Mari is a Shooting Filmmaker, Documentary Photographer & International News Editor based in London. She has completed field assignments in UK, Kenya, Ukraine and Holland and is juggling documentary projects for the British Film Institute whilst working freelance for Associated Press Television News.
Born in Tokyo and with an early childhood in Germany, Mari has developed an intercultural ethos having grown up with multiculturalism as the norm. With a spirit of a journalist and artist combined, she is keen to travel internationally for any factual assignment finding common threads across cultures to execute visual storytelling with an international aesthetic and therefore observationist in style.

Mari began pursuing her journalistic interests alongside her studies in Music at Cambridge University, specialising in arts and culture from the Middle East and North Africa region through her degree. She has also completed a summer school diploma in Conflict and Development at the School of African & Oriental Studies, University of London. In the near future, she hopes to relocate to the Middle East to further her understanding in Arabic and use multimedia as way of documenting every day life there.
